Nelson Velazquez’s two home runs lifts the Omaha Storm Chasers over Toledo

Nelson Velazquez hit a pair of two-run home runs as the Storm Chasers got back on the winning track with a 7-1 victory over Toledo on Thursday night.

Omaha had dropped six of its previous seven games, but Velazquez hit both of his homers in the first four innings as the Chasers assumed control.

Nate Eaton also added a two-run homer in the fifth inning. It was Eaton’s 16th homer and he also stole his 23rd base of the season.

Starter Noah Cameron, named the International League pitcher of the month for August, turned in another outstanding start. He allowed a run on four hits with seven strikeouts over six innings.

Former Creighton Bluejay Anthony Bemboom had two of Toledo’s six hits on the night.

Omaha and Toledo continue their series at 6:35 pm Friday at Werner Park.
