Ray Parlor says Arsenal would win the Premier League if Man City’s £51m star played for Arteta

Arsenal and Manchester City are once again challenging for the Premier League title.

The two rivals have gone toe-to-toe for English football’s highest prize in each of the last two seasons, and although the Gunners came close on both occasions, it was City who emerged victorious.

Mikel Arteta will be hoping the third time is the charm, but Arsenal are already two points behind Manchester City and a defeat at the Etihad on Sunday would extend the gap to five.

Gunners legend Ray Parlor has had his say on his old club and believes Arsenal are missing a player from their side.

Ray Parlor says Arsenal would win the Premier League if Erling Haaland played for them

Arsenal have decided not to sign a new striker in the summer.

The Gunners, in the eyes of many, have needed a prolific centre-forward since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club, but for one reason or another, they haven’t brought one.

Arsenal tried to sign Benjamin Sesko, but he rejected them and decided to stay at RB Leipzig. He even extended his contract there.

Parlor has now claimed Arsenal lack a player in that position, before saying they would likely win the Premier League title if they had Manchester City’s £51m superstar striker Erling Haaland in their squad sterling.

The Gunners icon then suggested Aston Villa’s Gunners, Ollie Watkins.

Parlor told talkSPORT: “If you put Haaland in Arsenal’s team, they will probably win the league. Don’t get me wrong, they were looking for a striker and for whatever reason, they didn’t get one.

“But yeah, that’s definitely the position they’re probably missing, a number nine who will score goals like Watkins does there for Villa, that kind of player.

“Whether they look at it again in January, we’ll have to wait and see. But I’m sure Edu and Mikel Arteta know that if a striker comes, they have to try to go after him.”

Three Arsenal strikers could try to sign in 2025

A new striker appears to be the final piece of Arsenal’s puzzle.

Arteta have world-class players in almost every other position, and if they can add a prolific goalscorer to guarantee 25 or 30 goals a season, they could become favorites to win it all.

Viktor Gyokeres is a player Arsenal have been linked with and the Sporting Lisbon star could be an option again. He has had a great start to the season, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in just seven games.

Sesko could become an option for Arsenal again next year. The Gunners’ interest in the RB Leipzig star has been real this summer and we won’t be at all surprised if they make a move to sign him in 2025.

Finally, the striker we think Arsenal should go all out for is Alexander Isak. The Newcastle United star is absolutely perfect for the Gunners and we think he would take the club to a whole new level.
