Marion Chamber of Commerce hosts Oktoberfest celebration

MARION, Iowa (KCRG) – Oktoberfest is a traditional beer celebration in Germany that has led cities across the US to host their own Oktoberfest.

This is the Marion Chamber of Commerce’s third year hosting the event.

The event serves as a fundraiser for the Marion Winter Lights program. A portion of the money raised also goes to the Iowa Brewer’s Guild to support local breweries.

The Chamber of Commerce said Oktoberfest is a perfect opportunity for breweries to showcase their best beers.

“You get to visit those brewers and they love to talk about how their craft is made and it’s just a lot of fun. We have German music and traditional games,” said Tami Schlamp, director of member services for the Marion Chamber of Commerce.
