Springfield police arrest three after armed robbery, seize high-capacity firearms

SPRINGFIELD — Responding to a report of an armed robbery, Springfield police detained three suspects and seized a high-capacity firearm over the weekend.

At approximately 11:40 p.m., on Sept. 21, officers responded to Armory and Warwick streets following an armed robbery involving three suspects.

Two victims claimed they were robbed at gunpoint.

Upon arrival, police detained two individuals, Ahman Patterson and Angelia Matos, on Albany Street.

They matched the descriptions of the suspects provided by the victims.

A third person, Keylon Davy-Cook, fled the scene, reaching for his waist and throwing a firearm onto a roof in the 200 block of Albany Street.

Although Davy-Cook initially escaped into a nearby wooded area, the Springfield Fire Department assisted officers in retrieving the loaded gun, which had a 32-round capacity, from the roof.

Patterson and Matos were later identified and arrested for their alleged roles in the robbery.

The following evening, September 22, around 9 p.m., Springfield Police Unit C3, while patrolling the 1100 block of St. James Avenue, saw Davy-Cook get into a vehicle.

After the car, displaying a faulty license plate light, began to drive away, officers pulled it over in the 1000 block of St. James Ave.

Davy-Cook was arrested and the driver issued a citation.

Keylon Davy-Cook, 18, of Springfield, faces multiple charges including armed and masked robbery, possession of a firearm without a license and possession of a Class B drug.

Ahman Patterson, 18, also of Springfield, is charged with similar offenses, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Angelina Matos, 18, of Chicopee, was charged with armed robbery and masked robbery and conspiracy.
