The Club at Olde Stone hosts the third annual Jim Johnson Charity Classic

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – This morning the clubhouse at Olde Stone hosted the 3rd annual Jim Johnson Charity Golf Classic, raising money for Masonic Homes of Kentucky’s Charitable Care Program.

“This is the third year we have hosted this tournament. We’re happy to do it,” said Adam Jones, general manager of sales for Jim Johnson Nissan-Hyundai.

Masonic Homes of Kentucky has been operating for 157 years, originally serving widows and orphans. Over time, the organization’s mission has shifted its focus to include senior living.

“The money raised here today will go toward our charity care program, which helps people who are indigent and don’t have assets to pay for their care,” said J Scott Judy, CEO of Masonic Homes of Kentucky.

The organization, based in Louisville, has a campus with a pediatric extended care unit that integrates both typical children and those with special health care needs, the only one of its kind in the state.

More than 13 four-person teams entered the course aiming to raise $40,000 for the program. This money would help Masonic Homes provide affordable housing, daily medical needs, transportation to appointments and other services for children and seniors.

“The money raised here today will go towards our charity care program, which helps people who are in need and don’t have any assets to pay for their care, and we also have a pediatric extended care unit on our campus,” Judy . said.

The Jim Johnson Classic is one of two Masonic Homes charity golf events, and the community has embraced and welcomed the annual event.

“It’s a privilege to be able to host this type of event for people to come out and enjoy the golf course and get to experience it here at Olde Stone,” said Nathan Hincks, Assistant Golf Professional at the Club at Olde Stone.

Golfers came from all over the country, some as far away as Minnesota, to participate in today’s charity scramble.

“It’s really important for us to not only raise the next generation as much as we can, but to have the best facilities, the best roads, just the best overall to give to our local community,” Jones said.
