Chesapeake wife charged in the shooting death of her husband

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A woman has been charged in the shooting death of her husband, according to the Chesapeake Police Department.

Police have charged 46-year-old Heather Heck in his death. She is currently facing two charges, first offense of firearm use, and murder in the second degree.

Chesapeake investigates a homicide on Sea Palling Lane

On Friday at approximately 7:57 pm, police responded to reports of a shooting on the 700 block of Sea Palling Lane. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

That man has been identified as 41-year-old Christopher Heck of Chesapeake, according to the Chesapeake Police Department.

Heck appeared virtually in court on Monday for her preliminary hearing. At the time, she requested bond and was told a hearing could take place for her on Tuesday.

According to court documents we obtained, an argument between Heck and her husband ensued on Friday inside their home.

Four kids were witnesses, two shared children and two friends of the kids for a sleepover.

Heck had ushered the kids upstairs after a threat was made by her husband about them according to documentation.

According to Police, Heck had taken a firearm from the bedroom and shot at her husband after hearing him try to follow them upstairs.

Mr. Heck was bleeding when medics arrived. He was transported to the hospital where he later passed away.

Heather Heck’s bond hearing is set for 9:30 Tuesday morning.
