New CNA Program at Chandler Education Center

New CNA Program at Chandler Education Center

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. — Goshen High School cut the ribbon today to celebrate their new program at the Chandler Education Center.

This would be the first CNA class to open a new path for students to acquire new skills and open doors to their future careers in healthcare.

The first group of students will learn more than 70 resident care procedures to prepare them for the certification test, such as hand washing, vitals and how to properly feed a patient.

The Chandler Education Center was an elementary school that was converted into an educational academy to assist career and technical (CTE) programs like this one in their efforts to provide students with hands-on clinical experience to obtain Nursing Certification certificate (CNA).

Goshens College of Nursing, Goshen Health and the Greencroft communities will provide students with hands-on clinical experience so they can achieve certification before graduation.

Esmer Aldatoriz Flores is a CNA student enrolled in the program and shares how beneficial the program will be for other students interested in nursing.

“With this class you can practically go. It’s not like you’re always sitting in a classroom taking notes. It’s like at some point we’re going to be doing clinical trials and going to nursing homes, and things like that are a good opportunity for this class,” Flores said.

GHS offers other CTE programs in addition to the CNA program such as: Fire & EMS, Construction and Goshen Television.

If you want to take advantage of the CNA program or other CTE programs that Goshen High School offers you must be enrolled as a student.
