Ohio high school football: Columbus area OHSAA live scores, Week 6 updates

The second half of the 2024 high school football regular season continued Friday night with seven teams putting undefeated records on the line.

We covered Teays Valley’s 21-14 win over Groveport, a CCL opener with Watterson beating Hartley 28-13 and the Olentangy Orange’s 21-14 win at Hilliard Davidson in the OCC-Buckeye opener for both teams .

Hartley remained undefeated. Also going undefeated on Friday were Columbus Academy (34-6 vs. Whitehall), Grandview Heights (40-8 vs. Whetstone), Granville (31-14 vs. Watkins Memorial) and London (51-6 vs. Bellefontaine).

Grove City suffered its first loss, falling 20-17 at New Albany.

Walnut Ridge remained undefeated Thursday with a 20-14 win over Marion-Franklin.

OHSAA scores, updates from week 6 of the Ohio high school football season

Olentangy Orange tops Hilliard Davidson

After being held without a first down in the second half, the Orange drove 99 yards for the go-ahead score as Levi Davis broke free for a 26-yard touchdown and then hit Terryn Thomas for a two point conversion.

Orange won 21-14.

Westerville North sits on top of Westerville South

Westerville South missed a 35-yard field goal with 16 seconds left, Westerville North won 3-0, defeating their central city rivals for the first time in 19 years.

Teays Valley sits at the top of Groveport

Groveport failed to get a first down on its final possession and Teays Valley ran out the clock for a 21-14 victory.

The Vikings have won five straight since their season-opening loss to Grove City and are 3-0 in the OCC-Buckeye in their first season in the league.

Watterson clings to Hartley

Watterson saw its 21-0 lead over Hartley cut to 21-13, but scored and held on for a 28-13 win.

Westerville North takes a 3-0 lead over Westerville South

John Link kicked a 29-yard field goal with 3:12 left to break a scoreless tie, giving Westerville North a 3-0 lead over Westerville South.

Watterson responds, takes a 28-13 lead over Hartley

Watterson put together a seven-play, 64-yard drive that ended with Zack Weber’s 8-yard touchdown run to give the Eagles a 28-13 lead with 5:31 remaining.

Teays Valley connects it with Groveport

Teays Valley tied the game with Groveport 14-14 midway through the fourth quarter, driving 80 yards in nine plays.

Brady Farmer threw an 8-yard touchdown to running back Carson Payne, and Farmer found Gideon Dixon for the game-tying two-point conversion to make it 14-14 with 7:30 left in regulation.

Hilliard Davidson takes the lead in front of the Olentangy Orange

Davidson came out throwing against the Orange in the second half, and Johnny DiBlasio connected with Kaden Windham for a 36-yard touchdown with 9:44 left in the third quarter to give the Wildcats a 14-13 lead.

Hartley makes a big comeback against Watterson

Hartley cut what was once a 21-0 Watterson lead to 21-13 with 9:10 left.

Hartley blocked a punt, setting up the Hawks at the Watterson 2 yard-line. Robert Lathon scored on a 2-yard run, his second TD of the game.

Hartley slows Watterson down, but he’s still going

After falling behind Watterson 21-0 in the first half, Hartley is on the board.

Two of Hartley’s three drives started in Watterson territory on a fumble return and a short punt. Robert Lathon got the Hawks on the board with a 9-yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 21-6 with 11:52 left. −Scott Gerfen

Groveport takes off to extend its lead over Teays Valley

In a sharp turnaround, Groveport took a breather to extend their lead over Teays Valley after the break.

Quarterback Baker Bowden completed back-to-back passes of 14, 17 and 25 yards to Jeremiah Moore, the longest of which was a touchdown, to put the Cruisers ahead 14-6 with 7:01 left in the third.

The score remains 14-6 early in the fourth quarter.

Olentangy Orange take the lead at halftime over Hilliard Davidson

After Davidson’s Avery Browning missed a 31-yard field goal attempt with 1:05 left in the first half, the Olentangy Orange drove 80 yards in less than a minute, capped by a 17-yard touchdown pass Levi Davis’ pass to Will Musgrove with 10 seconds left. .

The extra point was blocked, so the Pioneers lead 13-7 at the half.

Olentangy Orange ties game with Hilliard Davidson

The Orange tied the score with Davidson at 7-7 when Levi Davis lateraled to Zane Konczak in the backfield and Konczak reversed field and scored from 6 yards out with 6:22 left in the half.

Groveport does its job on the field

Leading 7-6 at halftime, Groveport outscored Teays Valley 101-34, with every yard coming on the ground.

Groveport’s Raishad King had 94 yards on 19 carries and the Cruisers held Teays Valley’s leading rusher Cameron Payne to 23 yards on 11 carries.

While most of the first half was played against a strong easterly wind, but in dry conditions, the rain began to pour as the half ended.

Watterson has a big lead over Hartley at the break

Watterson leads off at the half, leading Hartley 21-0.

Drew Bellisari has two touchdown passes and rushed for another. He is 5 of 10 passing for 44 yards. Zack Weber leads the running game with 60 yards on six carries.

Hartley has just 66 yards of offense, all rushing. One drive went to the Watterson 35, but he ended up on fourth.

Hilliard Davidson jumps ahead of Olentangy Orange

Hilliard Davidson drove 79 yards on its first drive, capped by Dayne Schmidt’s 1-yard touchdown run, to take a 7-0 lead over the Olentangy Orange with 48 seconds left in the first quarter.

A key play was Keevin Gibbon’s run for a first down on a fourth-and-1 near midfield. The drive lasted eight minutes.

Groveport takes over Teays Valley

Groveport forced a five-yard field goal early in the second quarter and then put together its best play of the night, a 12-play, 72-yard drive that culminated in Jalen’s 3-yard touchdown run Joyce on first and goal.

The extra point put the Cruisers ahead 7-6 with 1:08 left in the half.

With the score tied, the teams headed to the locker room.

Watterson dominates Hartley

Watterson extended its lead over Hartley to 21-0 in the second quarter with a 10-play, 65-yard drive.

Drew Bellisari hit Dominic Theado for a 1-yard touchdown. Bellisari connected with Carter Bellisari for the two-point conversion.

Westerville South, Westerville North tied in second quarter

A sloppy first quarter at Westerville North resulted in no points as the cross-town rivals battled.

South missed a field goal attempt early in the second quarter.

Upper Arlington leads Hilliard Bradley 14-0 in the second quarter

Alek Diller scored on a touchdown run and Noah Gehlert had a fumble and fumble recovery in the end zone as Upper Arlington took a 14-0 lead over Hilliard Bradley in the second quarter.

Teays Valley hits two field goals for an early 6-0 lead over Groveport

The elements played a factor early in a key OCC-Buckeye game between Groveport and host Teays Valley (both 4-1, 2-0).

Groveport ended its first possession with a nine-yard punt into a strong east wind, giving Teays the ball at the Groveport 24. The Cruisers made a defensive stand and Maxwell Spencer’s 37-yard field goal – aided by the wind – gave the Vikings a 3-0 lead 3:18 into the game.

Spencer added a second field goal on the next possession, this one from 39 yards out, for a 6-0 Teays Valley lead.

A 52-yard attempt on Teays Valley’s third drive was overturned at the line, and Teays Valley took a six-point lead into the second quarter.

The Vikings’ defense held Groveport to six yards in the first, nine of which came on the Cruisers’ final two plays of the period, but Teays Valley managed just 18 yards.

Drew Bellisari strikes again, Watterson ups the ante

Watterson took advantage of first field position at the Hartley 25 following a kick. Quarterback Drew Bellisari, who had thrown a touchdown pass earlier, scored on a 1-yard QB late in the first quarter for a 13-0 lead.

The stadium stopped for a second before returning, forcing a clock reset.

Drew Bellisari hit Tommy Haley for a 16-yard touchdown pass to give Watterson a 7-0 lead over Hartley.

It was the Eagles’ only drive of the opening 9-play, 65-yard drive.
