One died in an officer-involved shooting in North Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – One person was killed in an officer-involved shooting in North Omaha, police said Saturday.

Police say the incident happened near 31st and Taylor streets just before 5:30 a.m. with a report of shots fired.

According to police, a driver was pulled over for a traffic stop. The driver fled, and after a chase the driver was shot following an altercation.

The driver was taken to Nebraska Medicine with CPR in progress, but police say the driver has died. None of the officers involved were injured.

According to the police, a firearm was recovered from the scene.

Officers are searching for the passenger of the vehicle, who exited the vehicle following the pursuit, according to police.

OPD is working to collect video surveillance to determine exactly what happened.
