Kimball man killed in Interstate 80 crash in the Nebraska Panhandle

A 47-year-old Kimball, Nebraska, man died Friday in a crash on Interstate 80.

The Nebraska State Patrol said Chad Cook of Kimball died at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 4:30 pm near mile marker 18, about 3 miles west of Kimball. Nebraska State Patrol spokesperson Cody Thomas said Cook, driving an eastbound pickup, crossed the center line in a construction zone and struck a semitrailer truck.

Additional details about the semi driver were not available.

Traffic on I-80 was reportedly closed for about 4 hours and rerouted to US Highway 30. The crash remains under investigation.
