Case details

A Milwaukee man has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide in connection with the Feb. 19 death of 13-year-old Jamarri Page.

Prosecutors say it was one of two shootings that night that stemmed from a dispute between Page’s family and another family.

Page died at the scene of the shooting near 47th and Fiebrantz.

The complaint says his mother told investigators she was preparing dinner and called for him to bring a plate when gunfire erupted outside and bullets hit the house. The site collapsed and died.

Police found nine bullet hits into the house and 22 shell casings from two firearms. The complaint says there were “numerous” bullets and shrapnel in the house.

After the shooting, Page’s mother said she ran outside and saw a car stopped at the intersection. She said the driver got out, looked at her and said something like, “That’s it!” Then he drove away. His mother identified him as Lazarus McAdoo.

The mother further reported that she was having problems with another family, and a woman in the group threatened to shoot up her house. The complaint states that the problems stemmed from the fact that the mother was dating a man who was in a relationship with a woman from the other group. The man’s aunt lives at 27th and Garfield, and that home was also shot at the night of Page’s death.

The complaint says police found 30 shell casings from two handguns at the scene.

The investigation revealed that the shell casings at both locations were fired from the same weapon.

Additionally, it was determined that the vehicle seen during surveillance belonged to McAdoo’s father. The car was stopped on March 5 and prosecutors said Lazarus McAdoo was driving it.

Police say he denied shooting at the house at 47th and Fiebrantz, but admitted he was in an alley near the house at the time to attend a family gathering. He said he heard that other members of the group were going to go to the house at 47th and Fiebrantz and shoot someone. He said he “followed the shooters’ car” in his own vehicle and drove the shooter to a family gathering after the shooting.

Prosecutors say phone records show McAdoo was at the scene of both shootings when they occurred. On the night of Page’s death, he was also looking for information about 6.8mm firearms.
