Meerut, Oct 12 (PTI) Meerut police on Saturday said that a distraught man, who was about to hang himself over a family dispute, was rescued by the Meerut police.

The incident took place in Uplaheda village in Partapur district when Aditya called the emergency number ‘112’ expressing his intention to commit suicide, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Antriksh Jain.

The police team, which reacted quickly, reached the spot and stopped the man from hanging himself by cutting the rope with a sickle, Jain said.

According to police, Aditya borrowed money from his brothers and was under pressure from family members to repay the debt.
