There is a discount for running longer than one day, but this must be scheduled on the day of your first run to apply.

Rules:

Death Verification:

The name and telephone number of the funeral home/cremation society are required to publish obituaries. We must contact the funeral home/cremation society handling arrangements during business hours to verify the death. If the decedent’s body was donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomical Records Program or similar program, the decedent’s telephone number is required for verification.

Please allow sufficient time to contact them, especially during limited opening hours on weekends.

A death certificate is also acceptable for this purpose, but only one of these two options is necessary.

Guestbook and external sites:

We are not permitted to reference other media sources via a guestbook or an obituary posted elsewhere when placing an obituary in print or online. Instead, we may list the funeral home’s website or family email address for contact; please contact us if you have any questions regarding this matter.

Obituary process:

Once you have submitted your entry, we will fax or email proof for you to review before publication in the newspaper. This proof includes the price and the days on which the ad is scheduled to appear.

Once published, we are not responsible for any errors that may occur after final proofreading.

On the Internet:

All obituaries appear on TwinCities.com with a permanent presence in the online guestbook. If you wish to have your online presence deleted, you can contact us to delete your online guestbook. Changes can be made to the online obituary through the obituaries section. Please call us with any further questions.

Payment procedure:

Prepayment is required for all obituaries prior to publication by the deadlines listed below in our deadline schedule. Please call 651-228-5263 with payment information after receiving the proof and confirming its contents.

Rates:

The minimum fee is $162 for the first 10 lines.
Each line after the first 10 costs $12.20.
If your ad is less than 10 lines long, you will be charged a minimum bid of $162.
For the second term, the price for rows is $8.20 per row, starting with the first row.
For example: If the first run date was 20 rows, the cost would be $164.
Each photo published costs $125 per day.
For example: 2 photos in the newspaper in 2 days will mean a charge for 4 photos at a price of $500.
