One dead, 23 rescued after mine collapse in Colorado • Hollywood unlocked

A tragic accident occurred at the Mollie Kathleen gold mine near Cripple Creek, Colorado. This led to the death of the guide and the rescue of 23 other people. The accident occurred around noon on Thursday when an elevator descending from a 300-meter-deep mine shaft encountered a mechanical failure at a depth of about 150 meters.

Patrick Weier, 46, died in the accident. Authorities are currently investigating the details of the guide’s death. Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell said the exact cause of the crash was unknown. Initial reports indicated that the elevator may have fallen, but Sheriff Mikesell explained that it was unclear whether the elevator had fallen or bounced. NBC News.

NBC News reported that 23 people were safely evacuated from the mine after the incident. This group included 12 tourists and a guide who were at an altitude of 300 meters. The Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine, a popular tourist destination, was temporarily closed following the accident. The tourist attraction’s official website released a statement addressing the accident, expressing condolences to Weier’s family and thanking emergency services for their efforts.
