Second cat rescued from BC highways in 3 days, brought to Okanagan Humane Society

Just two days after Malachite was found on the Okanagan Connector, a second cat was also given a second life.

On Wednesday evening (October 9), the Okanagan Humane Society (OHS) received a report of an abandoned cat that could be heard meowing at a bus stop in Coquihalla Lakes. The cat had apparently been seen in the area several times but was scared.

After developing a plan, Occupational Health and Safety volunteers went to retrieve the cat to rescue it and transport it safely to Lakecity Animal Hospital in West Kelowna.

Occupational Health and Safety volunteers who rescued the one-eyed cat named it Spooky.

“Spooky’s eye had previously been enucleated, but it was unrelated to this event. She needs basic medical care and good nutrition after being outdoors alone for some time,” OHS said in a Facebook post.
