Nearly 10 million pounds of recalled chicken and beef were found in products at Trader Joe’s, Aldi and other stores

Meat and poultry products were delivered to restaurants and grocery stores throughout the country.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, BrucePac has recalled more than nine million pounds of packaged meat and poultry products due to possible listeria contamination.

The affected items were manufactured between June 19, 2024 and October 8, 2024 and shipped to restaurants and institutions. Infected poultry and meat are also found in prepared salads and casseroles sold at grocery stores such as Trader Joe’s, HEB, Walmart and Aldi. Here is a list of the specific products that have been recalled:

  • HEB Casserole with chicken, broccoli and ricewith a best before date of “080925”

  • HEB Texas Ranch Chicken Casserolewith a best before date of “082725”

  • HEB Texas Ranch Chicken with Ranchero Beans and Mexican Ricewith a use-by date of “090325”

  • Trader Joe’s Lemon Chicken and Arugula Saladwith a use-by date between 9/09/24 and 14/10/24

  • Trader Joe’s Tarragon Chicken Salad, with a use-by date between 9/09/24 and 14/10/24

  • Trader Joe’s Turkey Club Coverwith a use-by date between 9/09/24 and 14/10/24

  • Fresh Express Gourmet Cafe Chicken Caesar Salads (6.3 oz) with a use-by date before October 23, 2024

  • Fresh Express Gourmet Cafe Santa Fe Style Salads (6.3 oz) with a use-by date before November 10, 2024

  • Little Salad Bar Santa Fe Style Salad (6.3 oz) with a use-by date before October 16, 2024

  • Marketside Caesar Salad with Chicken (6.25 oz) with a use-by date before October 19, 2024

  • Santa Fe Style Marketside Salad with Chicken (6.35 oz) with a use-by date before October 15, 2024

  • Market Caesar Salad with Chicken (12 oz) with a use-by date before October 13, 2024

  • Southwest Style Marketside Salad with Chicken (11.75 oz)with a use-by date before October 13, 2024

  • Little Salad Bar Chicken Caesar Salad (6.3 oz) with a use-by date before October 20, 2024

  • HMS Chicken Alfredo with expiration dates from 25/08/2025 to 8/10/2025

The Food Safety and Inspection Service conducted routine tests that ultimately confirmed that ready-to-eat products contain listeria. Symptoms of listeria infection include fever, vomiting, nausea, headaches, and stiff neck. Elderly people, young children, people with weakened immune systems and pregnant people are most at risk of life-threatening illness from listeria.

Fortunately, no illnesses have been reported due to contamination. If you experience symptoms of listeria infection after eating contaminated meat, contact your doctor.

Restaurants and other establishments are also urged to stop using these products and throw them away or return them.
