A Wyoming County man pleads guilty to attempted crime

OCEANA, W.Va. (WVNS) – A Wyoming County man has pleaded guilty to criminal attempt to commit a crime.

Tommy Ray Wilson, 67, of Kopperston, pleaded guilty to attempted criminal mischief on October 9, 2024, according to a news release.

Members of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a car theft in the Oceana area of ​​Wyoming County on July 2, 2024. A witness advised law enforcement officers that Wilson entered her home without permission, took her father’s car keys, and took father’s car.

The witness’s father told law enforcement officers that Wilson did not have permission to repossess the car, and officers stated that Wilson had stated that he planned to return the car after the wedding.

Wilson’s sentencing is November 19, 2024, and he faces one to three years in prison.
