Three men found guilty of raping a Duluth woman at gunpoint while forcing her boyfriend to watch

DULUTHThree men were found guilty of raping a Duluth woman at gunpoint and forcing her boyfriend to watch before robbing the couple.

The crime occurred on July 21, 2021 at approximately 2 a.m. at The Falls apartment complex in Duluth.

Police said Daquain R. Livingston, 21, Elijah Nil Curney, 20, Dashawn Andrettie Harris, 18, and a fourth convicted defendant found the victims parked next to each other in the complex. They said the group pointed a gun at them and threatened to “blow out” the woman’s “brains” if she retaliated in any way.

According to reports, after the sexual assault, the accused robbed the victims’ cars and the couple fled and called the police. Their descriptions of the suspects were corroborated by Ring doorbell camera footage captured earlier that night.

DNA found on the rape footage performed on the victim matched Curney. Police also compared fingerprints found in the cars to Harris.

Just a month later, Curney was arrested during a traffic stop when he was found with a stolen gun in his car. During the interrogation, he partially identified his co-defendants in the case. The police were able to establish the rest of his connections using his telephone contacts and social media.

“This is a despicable crime that absolutely cannot be ignored,” said Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson. “The trauma that these defendants have inflicted on the victims is unimaginable, and these three men deserve to be punished to the fullest extent of the law.”
