Nine families saved when building burns

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A family trapped in a three-story building that caught fire around 3 am on Saturday night in Nishatpura area was safely rescued by police and firefighters.
Rescuers tied saris to the building’s balcony to bring all nine family members, including five children, down safely. According to police, ten fire engines were deployed to extinguish the fire, but no fatalities were reported.

Nishatpura police station TI Rupesh Dubey told the Free Press that the fire broke out in a building located in Karond Housing Society. The fire first broke out in a building belonging to Manzoor Khan and eventually spread to the third floor of the building.

A total of nine people were trapped in the building, including a divyang (man with special powers) and five children. The police and fire brigade were notified about the fire and immediately went to the scene. A resident of the colony, Mohammad Razi, used the stairs provided by one of the firefighters and gave a sari to the people trapped on the balcony.

The sari was tied to the balcony. The stranded people took turns tying saris around their waists and descending to safety.

In total, ten fire trucks were dispatched to the site, and it took almost two hours to extinguish the fire. Those trapped in the building were identified as Ikram Khan (60), Heena (45), Shaheen B (63), Humaira B, Afraan (12), Sadil (8), Junera (5), Yameen (4). ) and little Halima.
