Elon Musk shows off Tesla’s Cybercab Robotaxi with a Shiba Inu along for the ride

Elon Musk presented Tesla’s futuristic Cybercab robotaxi, marking a new milestone in AI use cases. Cybercab will operate as an autonomous taxi, providing affordable, premium transportation in the future.

Meanwhile, the Shiba Inu was seen riding a futuristic Tesla robotaxi.

Elon Musk shows off Tesla’s Robotaxi with a Shiba Inu for a spin

On Thursday, October 10, Musk exposed Tesla’s Robotxi Cybercap at the “We Robot” event in Los Angeles.

During an evening drive, Musk boarded one of the robotic taxis along with about 20 other similar cars driving without human control. The billionaire drove around Cybercap to demonstrate its functionality and autonomous capabilities.

The Cybercab is a sleek two-door vehicle designed as a compact version of Tesla’s Cybertruck. The vehicle can only accommodate two people and has no steering wheel or pedals.

Tesla’s Robotxi also stands out from other robotaxis brands because Tesla manufactured them without additional hardware. Cybercab operates autonomously thanks to artificial intelligence and cameras.

Meanwhile, during Musk’s demonstration ride in front of the audience, a A Shiba Inu was spotted riding on one of the axles of an autonomous robot.

Post X on the official Dogecoin account showed the dog taking a happy ride on the cybercap. The post asked Elon Musk to confirm whether the robotaxi was a Shiba Inu.

Musk says the autonomous future has arrived at low cost

During the “We Robot” event, Musk pushed the possibility of robotaxi in transportation. He noted that Cybercap reflects the place of autonomous cars, offering 5 to 10 times longer driving periods than humans, as well as 10 times safer.

Musk stated: “The autonomous future is here. With autonomy, you get your time back.”

According to Tesla’s CEO Cybercap will provide premium, point-to-point autonomous transportation at reduced costs. He said that the price of robotaxi transportation will be low and many will consider it as personalized mass transportation.

Musk again admitted that the average cost of bus transportation in the city is $1 per mile. However, the CEO revealed that Cybercab will run at an average of 20 cents per mile.

So, including taxes and other fees, a commuter using a Tesla robotaxi will pay between 30 and 40 cents per mile. Moreover, the vehicle will be charged inductively and will not need plugs.

Musk further pointed to Cybercap’s affordability, with a potential launch price of less than $30,000.

Moreover, the billionaire mentioned possible release time frames for some Tesla vehicles. He said the company will begin producing fully autonomous and unattended fully autonomous (FSD) vehicles next year in Texas and California. Production will focus on Model 3 and Model Y.

Musk, however, revealed that Cybercap production will begin in 2026 or 2027.

In the meantime, some companies that decided to robotize did so he suffered huge losses and possible downtime. Amazon is testing specially designed Zoox cars that operate without manual control.

General Motors introduced its Cruise, which works like the Chevrolet Bolt EV. However, the company has suspended production of the “Origin” autonomous vehicle for an indefinite period.

Alphabet’s Waymo is the only U.S. company operating an uncontrolled toll robot axis. The company boasts approximately 700 Jaguar Land Rover cars.
