Two people rescued after an accident on Route 21 in Palmyra

The Palmyra Fire Department, along with the East Palmyra Fire Department and Finger Lakes Ambulance, responded Monday evening after a two-vehicle rollover crash on Route 21 North. The incident, which occurred at approximately 5:34 p.m., involved a van overturning and another vehicle landing in a ditch, leaving both drivers trapped.

Palmyra Fire Unit 3-1 was the first to respond to the scene and found one person trapped in the van and another trapped in a car. A few minutes later, the 14-1 team arrived and as a precaution, requested assistance from the Marion Fire District rescue team. Mercy Flight was placed on alert but was unable to respond due to weather conditions.

Both people were removed from the vehicles within 10-15 minutes and transported by ambulance to the hospital. All emergency units left the scene at 7:32 p.m
