R Kelly’s daughter accused the singer of sexual harassment: “I was too scared to say…”

R&B star R Kelly is currently in prison after being charged with racketeering and sex trafficking in 2021. While the singer spends time in prison, his daughter Baku Abi is accusing him of serious charges.

Baku, also known as Joann Kelly, accused her father of sexually assaulting her when she was a child. She made shocking allegations in a new documentary Karma: A Daughter’s Journey for the TVEI streaming network.

In the first two episodes, she accused the singer of molesting her when she was 10 years old.

“He was everything to me. For a long time I didn’t even want to believe that it had happened. “I didn’t know that even if he was a bad person, he would do something to me,” she says in the first episode of the documentary, according to People.

She added: “I was too scared to tell anyone. I was too afraid to tell my mom.

Without sharing many details, Kelly stated that she felt prison was a “good fit” for Kelly because she knew it from “personal experience.”

Baku said the first person she told about it was her mother Andrea.

“I truly feel like that one millisecond completely changed my entire life, it changed who I was as a person, it changed the glow that I had and the light that I carried,” she says. “When I told my mother, I didn’t go there anymore; my brother (Robert) and sister (Jaah) didn’t go there anymore. And even to this day I struggle a lot with it.

Tearfully recalling the shocking experience, Joanne said Kelly was eight or nine years old when Kelly abused her.

“I just remember waking up to him touching me,” she recalled. “And I didn’t know what to do, so I just lay there and pretended to sleep.”

Baku and her mother even filed a complaint against him.

“They couldn’t charge him because I waited too long. At that point in my life, I felt like I had said something for nothing.”

Kelly has denied the allegations made by his daughter.

In a statement to People, his lawyer Jennifer Bonjean said: “Mr. Kelly vehemently denies these allegations. His ex-wife made the same allegation years ago, which was investigated by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and found to be unfounded. .. And the “filmmakers”, whoever they are, have not contacted Mr. Kelly or his team to even allow him to deny these hurtful claims.

The Grammy winner is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence after being found guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking.
