Nearly 10 years after it first aired, My Hero Academia will receive its final season in 2025

I hate to say it, My Hero Academia fans, but your favorite anime will soon come to an end with the announcement of its final season.

It was only in August that the My Hero Academia manga ended its 10-year run, but just yesterday it was confirmed that the anime will also come to an end. Season seven has been airing for the past few months, yesterday the 21st and final episode of the season aired, and with it, it was announced that the final season of the anime will air in 2025. This announcement was accompanied by a very short trailer , which didn’t actually show anything, just with Deku’s voice saying, “This is the story of how we became the greatest heroes.”

At least the crew has been confirmed for the final season, which includes several returning crew members such as lead director Kenji Nagasaki, director Naomi Nakayama, script supervisor Y&omakr;suke Kuroda, character designers Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi Odashima, and composer Yuki Hayashi. And yes, in case you’re wondering, Studio Bones will be producing the anime again – they’re hoping to bring back some old favorite animators to make the final season a bit special.

It’s an overall big weekend for American My Hero Academia fans, as the latest film in the My Hero Academia series: You’re Next hits theaters alongside the season seven finale and the announcement of season eight. This non-canon film features a mysterious, evil version of All Might, but you’ll have to watch it to find out what’s going on.

The My Hero Academia series began airing in 2016 and has so far counted 159 episodes – however, there are not many stories left from the manga to adapt, so you should not expect such a long season as in previous years.
