Police rescued 170 animals from a home in Puerto Rico, including turtles, donkeys and dogs

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Police in Puerto Rico said they rescued 170 animals from a home in a mountain town on Thursday and arrested their owner.

Police said the rescued animals included turtles, donkeys, goats, sheep, various breeds of dogs and even the endangered Puerto Rican parrot.

According to authorities, none of the animals discovered in the town of Gurabo received veterinary treatment, and some required hospitalization.

Their owner, a 70-year-old woman, was ordered to pay $27,000 bail.
