P. Diddy’s trial date finally set: here’s everything we know

Mr. Diddy will finally go to trial next year

Mr. Diddy will go on trial next year, almost eight months after his arrest on September 16 this year. His trial is currently scheduled for May 5, 2025.

Mr. Diddy was charged with human trafficking and racketeering, but he denied all these allegations.

He is currently incarcerated in a New York City jail without bail, despite multiple attempts to be granted bail ahead of his trial. All of his attempts were rejected by the previous judge in the case, who denied the request on the grounds that it posed a “danger to the community.” His bail package included a $50 million bond, a GPS tracker, house arrest and the surrender of his entire family’s passports.

The rapper appeared in court on Thursday, October 10, with his mother and children by his side, where a date was set. The judge also scheduled another hearing for December, although lawyers handling the case deemed it unnecessary. He will now have to remain in prison until his trial.

On Wednesday, P. Diddy’s lawyers filed court papers accusing the Department of Homeland Security of leaking a 2016 Cassie Ventura video that they said led to “prejudicial pretrial publicity” that could taint jurors’ perspectives and lead to unfair process in his case.

Federal prosecutors responded to these defense claims by saying in a written message to the judge that the government did not have possession of the video before it first aired on CNN.

P. Diddy’s trial will already be different from most regular trials, as Marc Agnifilo, P. Diddy’s lawyer, said in the trailer for the new TMZ documentary Diddy: “I don’t know if I would be able to keep him from testifying. I think he really wants to tell his story.”

According to P. Diddy’s lawyer, he “has come to terms with the fact that he is here for now” and “focused on his defense.”
