Obama responds to crowd member’s joke about Trump’s diaper at Harris-Walz event: ‘I almost said it’

Barack Obama couldn’t help but chuckle heartily in response to an audience member’s joke about Donald Trump wearing adult diapers.

On Thursday night, the former two-term POTUS lawmaker spoke at a Harris-Walz campaign event in Pittsburgh, at one point jokingly calling himself a “hopeful, mercurial guy.” He also pointed to numerous examples of Trump’s inherent distance when it comes to ordinary people and the issues that actually matter to them, highlighting Trump’s long-standing criticism of the former Student host.

“I remember the first time I walked into a store right after Malia was born,” Obama told the crowd Thursday, noting the difficulties of parenthood, namely the financial burden and how the Trumps of the world could never understand such realities. “I thought: what? How much do diapers cost? I remember changing diapers. Do you think Donald Trump ever changed a diaper?

At this point, the crowd and Obama himself burst into laughter. Screams could be heard from the crowd, seemingly chiming in with “No chance!” and “His own!” Obama seemed particularly tickled by the latter, adding to the joke by telling the audience that he “almost” said the same thing.

“I almost said it, but I decided I shouldn’t say it,” he said.

Below is Obama’s entire speech.

This moment fits nicely with Obama’s supposed presidential perfection of the age-old art of dick jokes, undoubtedly an art worth mastering and treating with the respect it so clearly demands, unlike, say, The art of making a deal. Obama addressed this area back in August, making hand gestures to emphasize his point about Trump’s “weird obsession with crowd size.”

That same month, Obama shared his annual summer playlist, which featured Charli XCX’s Brat closer to “365”. New version BratEspecially since it’s available today. Let it sink in.
