Tourists rescued from gold mine after fatal accident

An investigation is underway to determine what caused the death of a tour guide and the imprisonment of 23 others after authorities said an elevator had a mechanical problem. The incident occurred at the Mollie Kathleen gold mine in Colorado. During the rescue mission, trapped tourists were pulled to safety after they were stuck halfway down an elevator shaft. Twelve other people were rescued after being stuck at the bottom of the mine for six hours.
