Middle East news: ‘Outrage’ as Italy, France and Spain say Israel violated international law by targeting peacekeepers | World news

Just earlier this evening, we featured a Reuters report that at least 13 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli attack on a house in Jabalia.

Doctors who spoke to the news agency said that strikes in Gaza had killed 54 people today, with almost half of them killed in Jabalia, home to the largest refugee camp in the territory.

At least 15 deaths resulted from Israeli attacks targeting various areas, including a school that was sheltering displaced people, Palestinian news agency Wafa reported, citing medical sources.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) warned that thousands of people were trapped in the camp as a result of Israeli forces attacking the area.

Israel launched an offensive there last week that it says is aimed at stopping Hamas from regrouping.

“No one is allowed to come in or out; anyone who tries is shot,” said MSF project coordinator Sarah Vuylsteke.

She said five MSF workers were trapped in Jabalia.

She quoted Haydar, an MSF driver, as saying: “I don’t know what to do; we can die at any moment. People are starving. I’m afraid to stay, but I’m also afraid to leave.”
