ROCKWELL CITY — A Gowrie man accused of killing a 17-year-old young woman in Farnhamville last month pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and sought the right to a speedy trial.

On Friday morning, Nathaniel Bevers-McGivney entered a written plea of not guilty in Calhoun County District Court.

Bevers-McGivney, 21, is charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in connection with Michele’s death “Glow” Jackson from Farnhamville last month. The criminal complaint says Bevers-McGivney “intentionally and premeditated” cut Jackson’s throat.

The complaint states that on September 22 at approximately 11 p.m., a Farnhamville resident contacted the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and reported her daughter missing. The resident and her second daughter were looking for the girl on foot, who often spent time in the City Park, where she was last seen.

Law enforcement questioned the suspect that evening about blood on his clothing, and he asked to speak to a lawyer.

A search was launched throughout Farnhamville and on September 23 at around 9:12 a.m. the victim’s body was found. Bevers-McGivney was subsequently charged with abuse of a corpse and later with first-degree murder.
