Rocky Elsom: International arrest warrant issued for former Australian rugby captain, reports say | World news

An international arrest warrant has been issued for former Australian Rugby Union captain Rocky Elsom, according to reports.

French media reported that the order was related to his conduct as president of French club Narbonne in 2015 and 2016.

According to the AFP news agency, French sports daily L’Equipe and other media, the 41-year-old was found guilty on Friday of forgery and misuse of company assets by a court in Narbonne.

According to L’Equipe, he is accused of embezzling an estimated €700,000 (£586,000) before leaving the club.

According to reports, the former flanker was sentenced to five years in prison in absentia on Friday.

Elsom played 75 Tests for Australia and captained the Wallabies from 2009 until just before the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

He also enjoyed a successful career with Irish club Leinster.

In interview for The Times. published on October 6, Elsom said he worked in Dublin as a rugby coach at the Catholic University School, a private secondary school.
