A heat record is almost certain tomorrow

25 WEATHER – With the right recipe for sunny skies, low dew points, converging air and southwesterly winds, it looks like a new high temperature record tomorrow is almost certain. The old record, which was to be broken on October 13, is 96°. I think we’ll hit 100° in McLennan County and other areas should be almost as hot. This would also be the last calendar year in which 100° would ever occur in Waco if the forecast holds true. Like the last few days, expect plenty of sunshine.

A cold front will move in from the north and northeast on Monday, keeping us closer to 90 degrees and away from record heat. However, a larger inflow of colder air behind the front may not arrive until Tuesday. There is still a lot of model disagreement about how far south the front will move and what cool things are happening behind it. Right now I’m saying we should hit the upper 80s on Tuesday, with a further drop to the lower 80s on Wednesday. With any luck, the end of next week will be just as pleasant.
