GISB saga: Police officers investigating the possibility of teaching militants

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman is investigating the possibility that children rescued from care homes linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) were exposed to militant teachings, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

The Inspector General of Police said an investigation had been launched into allegations that children in care homes had been shown militant films.

“Even though we have not addressed this (militant science) issue throughout our operations at GISB, we are definitely moving in that direction (in the investigation).

“We know that children in care homes were also shown videos of their leader ‘Abuya’,” he said when contacted on Sunday (October 13).

Earlier, Selangor Islam and Innovation Development Committee chairman Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said the teachings of “jihadi fighters” were being spread through watching videos when children spend their free time in care homes.

It was reported that 625 people were rescued as a result of the GISB investigating operation, codenamed Ops Global.

58 people, including the director general of GISB, were detained under the Security Offenses (Special Measures) (Sosma) Regulations 2012.

35 other GISB members are still in custody and 273 people have been released on police bail.

37 others were released unconditionally, two were handed over to the Kedah Department of Islamic Affairs and one was handed over to the Immigration Department for deportation.

A total of 97 investigative documents have been initiated during operations since 9/11.
