Thief River Falls man pleads guilty to methamphetamine sales charges – Grand Forks Herald

POLK COUNTY, Minn. — A Thief River Falls man pleaded guilty Friday, Oct. 11, to third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

According to an affidavit filed in the case, 33-year-old James Richard Shaugabay sold approximately six grams of methamphetamine and packaging to a cooperating person in East Grand Forks on May 28.

The crime carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, although Minnesota sentencing guidelines recommend 21 to 57 months.

Court records show Shaugabay’s plea change was made in light of a plea agreement reached between the state and defense, but the plea agreement has not yet been filed.

The verdict will be announced on November 21 at 9:00 a.m.
