Lansing real estate broker John DeMarco guilty of sexual assault of a child

CORUNNA — John DeMarco, a 64-year-old Lansing real estate agent, was sentenced Friday to up to 20 years in prison on charges of sexual abuse of a child.

Online court records show Judge Matthew Stewart of Shiawassee County Circuit Court imposed a sentence of 30 to 240 months.

On August 29, DeMarco pleaded guilty to a charge of persuading, inducing or knowingly permitting a child to engage in sexually exploitative conduct for the purpose of producing sexually exploitative material.

Records show other charges of computer communications for the purpose of committing a crime, accosting a child for immoral purposes and possession of a weapon were dismissed.

DeMarco was charged in January. His attorney, Chris Wickman, could not be reached for comment.

DeMarco remained in the Shiawassee County Jail on Thursday.
