Experts are restoring the 100-year-old Sherlock Holmes film series

A team of restoration experts brings film strips from the silent version of Sherlock Holmes to life. “Silent Sherlock: Three Classic Cases” has far more footage than a modern Hollywood film. Film conservators meticulously review over 20 hours of content. Computer software changes the color of the film and removes dark marks, but this is a very slow process. The restored footage will be shown at the London Film Festival in 2024.
