(MENAFN-IANS) Bhubaneswar, Oct 13 (IANS) A case was lodged with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Sunday in connection with the suspected sexual abuse of an Odisha woman who was rescued by the police in Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan area on the night of 10 on October 11.

Advocate and human rights activist Radhakant Tripathy filed the case accusing the Delhi government of failing to protect the destitute and hapless woman.

Tripathy further accused the Delhi government of not learning to take precautionary and preventive measures even after the Nirbhaya case. The human rights activist also urged the NHRC to investigate the matter in an independent and impartial manner.”

It has also asked the Indian Summit Rights Authority to issue directions for the rehabilitation of the victim with adequate medical care and compensation.

Odisha Delhi Resident Commissioner Vishal Gagan said the senior official was in touch with the victim and the local police. He further stated that the Delhi Police has been assured of financial and other support required in the case.

Sources said the victim’s family members left for New Delhi after the incident came to light. Meanwhile, Biju Janata Dal leader and Rajya Sabha MP Manas Mangaraj on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the state government over the unfortunate incident.

“Shocking brutality in Delhi! Odia woman gang-raped in the national capital three days ago on the eve of Dussehra, stranded on the streets and later admitted to AIIMS Trauma Centre,” Mangaraj wrote.

He alleged that the state government was busy with celebrations and did not have time to issue any statement on the brutal incident.

“Call it negligence or apathy, the Odisha government has turned a blind eye to the plight of a distressed woman and seems to be busy during the holidays. CM visits Puja Pandals but has no time to make statement on brutal attack on #OdiaAsmita in Delhi,” Mangaraj alleged.

According to reports, a 34-year-old woman, a nursing graduate from Odisha, was allegedly raped by unknown miscreants who later on the night of October 10 abandoned the victim in a semi-conscious state in Sarai Kale Khan area of ​​southeast Delhi. and 11.

The victim was rescued by the police and taken to AIIMS Trauma Center where he is undergoing treatment.

According to reports, the Delhi Police has registered a case against unknown perpetrators under Section 70(1). 1 (gang rape) and 115 sec. 2 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.

Many teams have been established to arrest the alleged perpetrators of the brutal incident.
