Malaysia investigates claims of militant indoctrination among rescued children from GISB

Police in Malaysia are investigating whether children rescued from nursing homes affiliated with controversial organization Global companies Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) have encountered militant teachings.
Hundreds of children were removed from GISB-affiliated care homes last month allegations terrible sexual and physical harassment.

Inspector General of Police Razarudin Husain confirmed on Sunday that the investigation was focusing on possible militant indoctrination – including whether children were exposed to militant films.

“We know that children in care homes were also shown videos of their leader ‘Abuya’,” he said.

The original police operations against GISB did not initially address the militants’ teachings, but the evidence prompted a reassessment.

Al-Arqam, the predecessor of GISB, was founded by Ashaari Mohammad, also known as Abuya, in 1968 and was banned in 1994. The organization later changed its name to Rufaqa Corporation before adopting its current name.
