Founder of a rock band found guilty of killing his girlfriend

Thoebald “Theo” Lengyel, founding member of the popular Californian experimental rock group Mr. Bungle, was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, Alice “Alyx” Kamakaokalani Hermann, according to many reports.

Lengyel is scheduled to be sentenced in November and faces life in prison according to Spin.

According to Spin, the details of the case are terrifying.

Police said Hermann disappeared last December and her body was found in Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley, California. They said her car was last seen outside Lengyel’s house. Police also said they found a recording on Hermann’s phone from the night of her death, during which the couple argued about going to the swimming pool. Per Spin Lengyel shouts at Hermann: “I could crush your (expletive) brain.”

The website said the video “appears to show Lengyel choking Hermann to death.”

Lengyel played keyboards, clarinet and saxophone in the band and appeared on albums in 1991 and 1995 on Spin. The website states that he left the band in 1996.

Mr. Bungle was formed in 1985 and performed until 2000. The band reunited – Lengyel was not part of this venture – in 2019 and is still active.
