Passenger of the Grand Princess cruise ship rescued off the coast of Los Angeles

Coast Guard Air Station Ventura rescued a man from the Grand Princess cruise ship off the coast of Los Angeles over the weekend.

According to the Coast Guard, a 63-year-old man experienced severe abdominal pain, prompting a call for medical assistance around 1 a.m. Saturday.

The Jayhawk crew took the man to a helicopter around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The man was taken to Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance for treatment. His condition is unknown.

Officials say this is the first rescue carried out by the newly established Coast Guard Air Station Ventura.
