Lions star Alim McNeill watched ‘Reba’ after his contract extension ended

Detroit Lions star defensive end Alim McNeill signed a massive four-year, $97 million contract extension on Tuesday that included $55 million guaranteed.

The new contract was fully deserved by the former third-round pick, who totaled 120 tackles, 10.5 sacks and 18 tackles for loss in over three seasons with the team.

But when McNeill was about to sign up for the biggest raise of his life (literally generational wealth), he did something many non-athletes do.

He was watching an old hit TV series Reba.

“While all this was happening, I was on the phone with my agency and they said,Reba is on a TV show. And I couldn’t lie to you Reba was on TV! And Van, one of the characters in Reba he just signed with his team in Colorado. It was crazy! But yes, Reba it was on!” McNeill laughed.

McNeill’s cheerful nature made him a fan favorite in Detroit, as did his play as one of the top center fielders in the NFC.

He will look to continue his strong play when the Lions take on the division rival Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
