Celine Dion surprised the world when she returned to the stage almost two years after announcing her diagnosis of stiff man syndrome. However, experts claim that the scenery from the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games was previously recorded.

The 56-year-old Canadian-born singer thrilled fans with her performance of French singer Édith Piaf’s anthem to love in front of the Eiffel Tower in July.

Celebrating her first appearance since 2020 and first since going public with her diagnosis, praise exploded on social media, with French President Emmanuel Macron calling it the “emotional highlight” of the Olympics.

However, Celine, 56, is now facing allegations that her performance was “without a shadow of a doubt” pre-recorded after music experts spoke to Liberation newspaper for an article titled “Did Celine Dion lip-sync during the Olympic opening ceremony?” “.

Wanting to remain anonymous, the sound engineer spoke to the facility where he stated: “It was a 100% playback, you can hear it from the first notes.”

Classical pianist and musician Etienne Guéreau also spoke out on the matter, telling a respected news outlet, “What we heard on TV was a corrected playback.”

In addition to sources from the music industry, the musician with 25 years of experience, known on YouTube as Wings of Pegasus, believes that the performance sounded the same as Celine’s rehearsal.

He said the problem is that it’s technically impossible because the songs will often be different even if they’re performed by the same person.

Celine has not issued a statement regarding the claims.

The report upset fans, who were quick to defend the five-time Grammy winner. One fan called the star’s performance “regardless of whether it’s admirable.”

Don’t you have more important information to repeat? What need is this to tarnish and denigrate? We don’t care! You won’t take away the emotions that accompanied us then. Still, Celine Dion’s vocals are admirable.” wrote McyLuce.

Kristina Adams wrote: “Who cares – she was great anyway.”

One fan, Tostitwo, addressed her health battle and said, “She’s sick, let her lip sync.”

The ruling came after the star, known for songs like “My Heart Will Go On” and “I’m Alive,” released her documentary on Prime Video, detailing her battle with the life-changing disease.

Director Irene Taylor spoke to Metro.co.uk shortly before the film’s release, admitting that some scenes were “unbearable” to film, especially the moment Celine’s foot began to spasmwhich led to her entire body being obliterated while experts rushed to her aid.

As the attack worsened, the mother of three screamed in pain as her medical team worked to slow her symptoms.

“The hardest moment to film and the hardest moment just being in the room was the medical episode,” Irene said.

“It went on for quite a long time, anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour, depending on where you call it the beginning and the end. The video lasts approximately five minutes.

It was almost unbearable. But I let my intellect kick in and me and my director of photography got through it, I would say.

“It was very difficult, certainly the most unpleasant and unusual thing I have ever seen in real time with my cameras rolling.”

In 2022, Celine was diagnosed with the disease, which affects the central nervous system and is said to turn people into “human statues”.

Despite the pain it causes, the singer promised to return to the stage for her fans: “If I can’t run, I will walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. But I won’t stop.

Metro.co.uk has contacted Celine’s representatives for comment.
